If you haven't read this make it the political article you read today. Excellent work by Rebecca Traister of Salon.com. "Everyone seems to be oozing sympathy for the fumbling vice-presidential nominee. Please. Cry me a freaking river,"comments Rebecca Traister.

Ms. Traister is on point with this article. Does anyone actually feel sorry for Gov. Palin? You do it to yourself. Its true. You think you can hold the belief that humans and dinosaurs walked the earth at the same time and come off intelligently in public scrutiny? Scrutiny by people who think for a living? No chance.

Video of their track "The Whiz." People Under the Stairs have one of the better hip hop albums of 2008 in their 6th album, Fun DMC. Dudes have been at it for 10 years and keep their sound fresh and are able to stave off the perials of going mainstream. Video was shot on location in Australia (gotta be rough!). Video matches their sound and the feel of this track. A breezy summer hip hop hit.

Well the video isnt going to win any production nods but Jacob Miller is a reggae great who passed way too early. Born in Mandeville in central Jamaica and knowing that he wanted to be a singer since the age of 10 Miller moved quickly to make a name for himself. In high school Miller began hanging out studios and was befriended by Augustus Pablo. His first single would be recorded by Pablo. Miller would continue to work with influencial reggae acts. Paired with his humor (evidenced by the above video) and his ability to shed light on Jamaican social issues of the time he quickly rose to prominance.

Miller is probably most well known for his "rockers" singles of the mid 1970's with the band Inner Circle. The most notable single was "Tenement Yard" which would be his biggest hit. The hit lead them to sign with Capitol Records in 1977. Inner Circle and Miller would become one of the largest acts in Jamaica alongside of force in Jamaica, taking charge musically along with Bob Marley, Dennis Brown, Bunny Wailer, Third World, Gregory Isaacs, and Peter Tosh.

Tragically Miller would be killed at the age of 27 in a car accident. He leaves behind a truely influencial catalog as booth a roots and a dub artist. Check out a track.

"Half of Chi is from Mississippi anyway," David Banner says at the beginning of the track. Well we all know I'm not from Miss I might make up the other half I guess...its of real no consequence cause this track is a great addition to the finale to summer. Track features production from Diplo (drums from the 1982 cut "Action" by Orange Krush) and has such a great sound. Track is off Kid Sister's album Dream Date which is out soon.

Thank you for not letting her off the hook Mrs. Couric. Govenor Palin's answers are weak at best. Palin and McCain are a joke. Does Govenor Palin actually make any sore of a convincing point in either of these videos?

I'm not waiting on McCain for anything. Dude was running things for 26 years. This interview is about as unimpressive as you can get. But this is where it gets real silly.

The intent of this mix was to try and capture what WE'VE all been feeling these past months: hope, struggle, and the importance of facing a challenge. It also serves as a reminder, and perhaps an introduction to what OUR candidate is all about. With that being said enjoy, register, & get involved. History, Change, & Victory In November.

Opening up the health insurance market to more vigorous nationwide competition, as we have done over the last decade in banking, would provide more choices of innovative products less burdened by the worst excesses of state-based regulation.

Scientist, born Hopeton Brown in Kingston, Jamaica, 1960 was the understudy of King Tubby (one of the originators of dub music). He was introduced to music making technology through his experiences around his child home where his dad was a television and radio repair technician. Building on that experience he began building his own amplifiers and along with buying transformers from Tubby's Dromilly Road studio. Scientist would work as Tubby's assistant before moving on to Channel 1 Studio as the principal engineer. In 82 he would leave Channel 1 and move to Tuff Gong and then eventually in 85 to Washington DC. According to his myspace he is currently living in Hollywood.

Scientist is probably most notable for his 80s releases on Greensleeves records with titles themed around fictional achievements in fighting Space Invaders, Pac-Men, Vampires, and winning the World Cup (all with amazing album art). This track is off his boxing themed record "Heavyweight Dub Champion."

You Have To Be Shitting Me
By: John Cole

This is unbelievable:

The federal government is working on a sweeping series of programs that would represent perhaps the biggest intervention in financial markets since the 1930s, embracing the need for a comprehensive approach to the financial crisis after a series of ad hoc rescues.

At the center of the potential plan is a mechanism that would take bad assets off the balance sheets of financial companies, said people familiar with the matter, a device that echoes similar moves taken in past financial crises. The size of the entity could reach hundreds of billions of dollars, one person said.

In other words, folks spent years making billions upon billions of dollars on risky transactions, more money on the stock of companies that was artificially high based on those transactions, more money bundling all those transactions into more transactions, and made a killing, and when it turns out the whole thing is a big pile of shit, you and I get the god damned bill.

I do not ever want to hear another damned word about the free market. I don't want to hear another thing about letting the market regulate itself. I don't want to hear about the free flow of capital. I don't want to hear about government getting out of our lives.

None of it. From superfunds to super-bailouts, I am tired of other people getting rich being irresponsible and then being told I have to pay to clean it up. I didn't read one punitive aspect of this new plan. Not one punishment for the people who did this.

And it should be no suprise that our President-Select has been AWOL during this time of need.

Very special Friday as I bring you one of my favorite all time reggae artists, Johnny Osbourne. Osbourne is responsible for two of my favorite reggae tracks "Ice Cream Love" and "Water Pumping"(which is an adaptation of Hopeton Lewis' who we have already discussed "Take It Easy" track). Osbourne born and raised in Jones Town has been making reggae music for 25-years and hasn't slowed down yet.

Osbourne second album, his 1974 album Truth and Rights produced by C.S. Dodd is my personal favorite. While it lacks the hits I mention before its a standout in my mind in the roots reggae genre. Still having a tough time forgiving the dude for his Gap ads but when you have classic hip hop records such as Like Water for Chocolate and One Day It'll All Make Sense and Be you get a lot of leeway. With only a couple exceptions Common Sense is everything I like about hip hop. Great sound, upbeat and positive vibes.

His upcoming record is Universal Mind Control and features some heavyweights in hip hop. Album is due out November 2008. Check out the title track. Love the production. Hype Williams did the video. Track features Pharell (maybe hes the robot?) and production by the Neptunes.

Frankly as of late I have been frusterated by iTunes and its sluggish performance on a top of the line computer. I welcomed the arrival of a new Zune 8 to see if I was just in the same sheep type rut of 95% of mp3 player users who use an iPod. I currently have a Nano and Touch.

Out of the box things that impressed me about the Zune is the ability to listen to FM (I dont really like the radio outside NPR but the ability is cool), this is paired with the ability to play videos (not possible on my current Nano) and display images. Other features that are promising are the ability to share files wirelessly with other Zunes and via USB with Xbox 360s, and can sync wirelessly with Windows PCs. I don't know anyone with a Zune or XBox but the idea again is a cool one.

Wikipedia currently has a nice table comparing portable media players. One critisim of the Zune that I have observed so far is its inability to work with other software. It is only compatible with the Zune software which is provided by Microsoft. No Winamp and not even Windows Media Player. I have looked and you can get third party modifications which allow Zunes to sync with Windows Media Player or iTunes but such compatability would be nice right out of the box. The ability to browse the internet makes my Touch remain the king but with improvements that Zune (and Microsoft) is making and hopefully with a bit of competition, Apple will make improvements to iTunes instead of just sitting on its tired software that they keep rolling out time and again because they were first to mainstream the idea.

One of the newest features Zune is set to roll out is an interesting one. The "Buy from FM" feature will allow users to tag and buy music directly from their device from virtually anywhere. If using the radio waves, you can tag the track to buy later when connected online. If you're in a wi-fi hot spot, buy the track directly to the device. People are going to figure it out sometime. Right? Right? A mean Palin and McCain are lying. They are not telling us the truth. Even one of the most annoying media outlets (CNN) is reporting about Palin's lies.

This is a culture war. You care about education? the economy? the environment? or are you more concerned with social issues like the right to choose or the existence of christ. I mean its getting borderline alarmist here. You aren't going to care about having the baby or pondering the existence of a higher being if you are sitting street-side without a job or your house has been leveled by increasingly severe weather. Lets get real here.

Also if you didn't know only the McCain family knows what war is like. "Period." Like they have a monopoly on suffering so don't try it or bring it up.

If you do one thing today read the article by the esteemed Senator from Vermont, Bernie Sanders entitled, "This Election is Not a Soap Opera or a Football Game: It is About the Future of Our Country"

I was extremely excited about Obama getting up to 50% just last week. But it turns out Mrs. Sarah Palin gave Bush the Third John McCain the bump he was looking for. Gallup is reporting today that Obama is sitting around 44% to McCain's 49%. It is incredible house the Republicans can absolutley bamboozle some americans into thinking that this won't be four more years of Bush which over saw the highest unemployment rate in five years, a crippling housing crisis, global warming, zero improvement on the lack Of healthcare and an undermining of our public education system.

Rep. Bachmann "(Sarah Palin) easily has more qualifications than Barack Obama and Joe Biden put together if you look at executive experience." Nice try of being crafty lady. While you are technically right no person in their right mind will count executive experience of being a mayor of a town of less than 9,000 people and Governer of a remote sparsely populated state for less than 2 years easily more qualified than Obama or Biden.

Rep. Bachmann should be embarrassed that she even attempted the qualifications argument. Nice try to pander to the women's vote on her rebuttal to Carville which was totally irrelevant to the point. See more if you haven't heard enough (actually gets better). Carville makes some great points about Olympia Snow as somebody that should have been the woman if any was appointed as McCain running mate.

While I agree that the polls are polls but having a 50% approval rating and an 8 percentage point lead on your quickly sinking competition is great news for the Obama/Biden campaign. Their electoral votes are closer 273 to 265 but it can't discounted that Obama has risen risen 5 percentage points in the polls since the convention.

Bad news for the McCain/Palin ticket continues to mount. Palin has a host of problems on her plate between "Troopergate", almost being recalled when she was mayor, a link to the Ted Stevens' scandal, news she was part of a Secessionist Party, being an earmarks beneficiary, a connection to Jack Abramoff, and a corruption investigation.

A record with only 3 tracks? Are you serious? Well Hans-Peter Lindstrøm is quite serious and he takes his cosmic disco sound to new heights. Literally while three are only three tracks the three tracks are spaced out gems ranging from 10 minutes to 28 mins in length. The Guardian explains "that every aspect of the record seems tailor-made to produce maximum pleasure: washes of sound soothe and restore, melodic climaxes send blood rushing to the head."

In all its symphonic grandeur Lindstrom in my eyes has taken my top record of 2008 spot. I might be a bit biased here picking a dude from my fatherland but this record is a bit better than my previous favorite (Air France's No Way Down).

Listen: Lindstrøm - "The Long Way Home"

Lindstrøm states that record is "...perfect for a long walk with headphones or when traveling by train or airplane." I couldn't agree more.
