Few outside of Dead Prez take the same Afrocentrism and militant activism approach to their hip hop music like X-Clan. X-Clan started in Brooklyn back in '89 with their release of To the East, Blackwards that reached #11 on the hip-hop/R&B charts. Tradegy struck the group in March of 2006 when it lost its leader and really a hip hop cultural leader in Professor X (RIP).
X-Clan's newest record is titled Return from Mecca (originally titled The Trinity) is scheduled for release in 2007, and features a truely impressive list of talent from Damien Marley, Chali 2na, KRS-One to RBX and Abstract Rude.
