A week ago I wrote about the new J5 track "Work It Out." But, I totally missed this obcenity ridden post by the fellas (David, SergDun, Emynd & Robert) over at We Eat So Many Shrimp about the new team up of J5 with DMB. Head over there and check it out.

Quote from J5 via So Many Shrimp via sohh:

The first single off Feedback titled "Work It Out" features the Dave Mathews Band, who Jurassic 5 formed a close relationship with while touring together in the past.

"It's a step up for us because we have been basically known as an underground group." said group member Soup via a statement. "We've been known as a backpacker group. This album still has elements of that because that's who we are, but at the same time we are also trying to step into another realm."

harsh words ... but maybe on point? I like what he said about them being posterboys for what was good about hip-hop and now this.

I'm still not gonna pass a judgment until I hear the whole album. The demise of the Black Eyed Peas was bad enough. I have a sliver of hope that J5 won't tread that path.

i dont see what the big deal is..

j5 has long been listened to by "White middle class kids with musical taste"

hell they played fuckin bonnarroo.
you dont get any less hip hop than that.

as long as they dont change the core of their musical values then whats the big deal?

This is definitely the weakest J5 track I've heard to date. The collabo with the DMB is pointless. This ain't no sell out hip-pop at BEP level, not even close imho, it's just a miscalculation by the J5. This definitely ain't no "Day at the Races". A weak track, but the criticism is way to harsh. Let's see how the album turns out. I'm sure there will still be dope tracks on the album.
