In an earlier post I discussed lobbyist Jack Abramoff who has admitted to defrauding at least four Native American tribes of at least $26 million dollars, bribing government officials and evading taxes. Well we can all only hope that Tom DeLay is next but this breaking story looks like GW Bush took some of Jacky boy's dirty money.
Well when Jack goes, he goes BIG! In July 2003, Abramoff was quoted in The New York Times saying: ''Everyone in town is trying to be a Pioneer or Ranger... So far I've raised about $120,000, and I haven't even really started making calls.'' Damn boy! Trash talking...120g? ain't no thing for Jack. Jack plays big time didn't you know? Pioneer and Ranger refers to the various levels of giving to the Bush's campaign. A "Pioneer" donor is a person who persuads fellow supporters to give more than $100,000, the "Ranger" contributes $200,000. Pioneer and Ranger seem pretty fitting for a spoiled rich Conneticutt kid from Yale...I mean a rough talking cowboy type from Texas, sorry.
But, Scottie McClellan assures us he is giving it back, so I guess that is ok right? Denny Hastert, the House Speaker, and the former House Majority Leader, Tom DeLay, who said they would return the contributions from Abramoff and his associates.
