Just listen to this swoon-worthy remix of Daft Punk's Derezzed from Montreal, Canada-based producer Robotaki. I've been really impressed with Robotaki's remixes in the past, and this one is brilliant. Almost sacrilegious to say, but...I might just prefer it to the original.

First single from one of the better bands on the planet. "Banana Ripple" is the first single from the forthcoming Junior Boys album It's All True out on Domino Records June 13th in UK & Europe & 14th in the US. I like "EP" more but this track is still pretty great.

Australian producer and Red Bull Music Academy 2008 participant, Ta-ku is featured on the upcoming release of Gilles Peterson's Brownswood Electr*c 2. Ta-ku's "Hey Kids" stands out from the rest of the bass-heavy tracks off the compilation, with his synthy future soul sound.

A-Trak, scratch champion, Kanye West DJ, label owner and music maker will be playing at The Mid on Thursday May 5th. If you don't know and I don't really know how it would be possible but A-Trak has completely lite the music world on fire with his work as half of Duck Sauce.
The stop at The Mid is part of the 8-Ball Tour which features Gaslamp Killer and Kid Sister. Should be a pretty great party. Check it out.

Just a quick post after a long week. Wanted to feature a bit of the Northwest (see pic) and a couple not so new but pretty great remixes of some of my favorite artists. Check out remixes of DJ Shadow's classic "Midnight in a Perfect World." The original if I had to pick one track is the best track ever. But that is just me. Also remixes of Aeroplane and a great Santogold track I had laying around on the hard drive. I even did everyone a favor and made them downloadable! Have a great weekend everyone! Peace.

Go Go Bizkitt! was hands down one of my favorite producers of last year, and he's definitely a name to watch in 2011. This talented producer's blend of French House is...slightly mental and completely irresistible. If you want to get a good feel for his style, check out this minimix he created as a warm up for the upcoming "Dance Koko Dance" show in London on April 21st. I'd kill to go to this show--just look at this lineup: Alex Metric, Alan Braxe, Grum, Flight Facilities...
So, uh, how much are flights to London these days...?

Just caught this new LIFELIKE remix of Moby's new single, "The Day". That track is from Moby's upcoming album, "Destroyed", out May 16th. I've drifted away from Moby over the years, but I'm looking forward to hearing his latest effort and I'll definitely give it a good listen. Wired has a good writeup about the new "Destroyed" album, including an interview, so head on over and check that out.
I always enjoy a good LIFELIKE remix--he's been a one of my go-to French producers for a while now--and I'm liking the sound of this one. What do you think?

Hard partying Italian funklords Reset! just dropped this new dancefloor quaking remix of Run This Town from up and coming pop starlet duo Oh My!. Oh my gosh that's a lot of exclamation points!! Anyway, fantastic track (both the original and remix). Definitely expect to hear a lot more from both Reset! and Oh My! this year.

Here's a compilation of original tracks with all proceeds donated to the Red Cross for the benefit of Japan relief. For $5, you get 16 tracks of house/disco-house, from the likes of Pat Lok, Free Magic, Dominic Pierce, White Girl Lust, and The Phantom's Revenge.
Some way, some how, I was not following Flight Facilities on Soundcloud. A tragedy given they are perhaps one of my favorite remixing duos. They have a new fabulous remix of Holy Ghost! up and they just re-adjusted their absolute classic remix of the track "Giselle." Check them both out!

While the Federal government seems unable to forge on due to unreasonable demands by Mr. Boehner. You know you have issues when Representatives Michele Bachmann and Mike Huckabee are voices of sanity. In other disturbing political news Mr. Weiwei (pictured) remains in the custody of the Chinese Police for the unthinkable crime of expressing his freedom of speech. We hope he is freed soon.
Regardless of political messes AG forges on with another installment of weekend tunes for your enjoyment. Here a couple tracks that should get things going and allow you to forget about the political stuff going on here and elsewhere. Love this Duke Dumont track its new. The others are older but equally as epic. Check'em out.

Young and dangerously talented Torontonian Mix Chopin produces some really funky French house/electro tracks. He's got a sound of his own and a special knack for bass lines, and I'd put him up there with some of my other favorite producers in this style like Bit Funk and Go Go Bizkitt! After checking out this new teaser for his his soon-to-be-released EP, Love Story, I'm intrigued.

With a baby is increasingly hard to get out and see live music but my circumstance should keep you all from getting out there to enjoy what Chicago has to offer. This Saturday The Midwest's own Freddie Gibbs is coming to The Bottom Lounge. Gibbs has recently teamed up with Bun B, Chip tha Ripper, and Chuck Inglish and Mikey Rocks of The Cool Kids to form another group called P.O.C. (Pulled Over by the Cops).
Tom Breihan from Pitchfork describes Gibbs "as a master of cadence, of throwing his voice into all sorts of twisty, tricky rhyme patterns..." Definately worth checking out this Gary Indiana product if you have the time.
