Fresh new track from UK artist Estelle. Real smooth and light voice that lends itself so well to great RnB and Soul. This is a bit more pop and even has a nice electronic edge. Check it out thanks to my friends over at Discobelle.

With a "mainstream" interest growing in dubstep thanks largely to indie blogger's love for Burial I thought I would throw out a Tokoyo dustep phenomom that goes by the name of Goth Trad. He did a nice little mix for Mary Anne Hobbs' experimental show on Radio 1.

Check it out his my space to hear his music. His Far East Assassin mix is for sale now. Get his other records here.

Ghostland Observatory's Robotique Majestique is the new record by another Texas duo. Its their follow up to self released albums delete.delete.i.eat.meat and Paparazzi Lightning. On this record Ghostland does what they do best an over the top monster blend of electronic 80s style rock. My favorite track on the record is "Dancin' On My Grave" it stands out from the rest as a great start to 2008 best of singles list. Check out a couple tracks off the record:

Mp3: Ghostland Observatory - "Heavy Heart"

Buy: Album drops tomorrow. Go get it.

Texas house duo Ocelot mix from via Ocelot's myspace via No Love Lost Records. Here is what No Love Lost said about the mix:

"Coming straight off their very well received and much talked about “Ocelot Remix” of Swedish pop sensation, ROBYN’s current hit single, “Be Mine”, this U.S./U.K. based duo have seen fit to grace the No Love Lost Records Mixtape Project with its twentieth exclusive mix. The mix OCELOT have crafted is an absolute monster, spanning some 96 minutes and 39 tracks, all carefully selected and mixed within a millisecond of perfection."
They are absolutley right with artists Daft Punk, Stardust, Sinden, Run DMC mixed in with Ocelot originals the mix is solid. Check it out:

Nigeria Special: Modern Highlife, Afro-Sounds & Nigerian Blues 1970-76 on Soundway Records is some absolutely stunning music. I admittedly have never heard of anyone on this record before which for me makes these types of compilations so so valuable. No chance a scrawny white kid in Chicago is going to get a chance to listen to this type of selection from years before I was even born. Check out a track!

Best hip hop record, should have been best record overall (seriously I love Herbie Hancock to death but a cover album as best album of the year?). Best Grammy performance too. Couple questions...Who at the grammys was like we have got to get John Fogerty and Jerry Lee Lewis together that will really blow the top off this thing. And what did John Legend do to get stuck having to do a track with Fergie?! That young dude doing the Oscar Peterson cover was awesome. The large rant by the old Grammy white dude about the peirals of downloading illegal music was BS.

Obama wins 3 more states and pulls closer to Hillary in the delegate count. While Clinton's appeal might be high in places like California, New York and Massachusets, places that are old and traditional Democratic strongholds. We have seen that Obama knows how to motivate, energize and inspire those in places as diverse and different as the Pacific Northwest and Louisiana. California, New York and Mass will go to whoever the democratic nominee is that you can bet. Obama shows a broader range and more charism and wants to take this country in a new direction, he wins the nomination and its all over.

As of today the AP has Hillary with 1,095 delegates and Obama with 1,070 and with the speech above you can bet that Obama will be taking Virginia on Tuesday. Seriously watch that 30 minute clip and tell me how you can't vote Obama.

BC based Rico Uno remixes the Dr. Buzzard's Original Savannah Band's track "Sunshowers." "Sunshowers" was pushed into the mainstream by MIA on her record Arular back in 2005. Uno is into everything I am from electronic, 80s, hip hop and reggae. Hell he loves video games and Bubble Bobble so its a sure thing. Don't miss this one of the better remixes I have ever posted. Cuts straight to the source.

Super Tuesday is upon us and I am hoping you all got the opportunity to vote for whoever you think will do the best job leading this country. Nice thing about whoever is chosen President is that the bar can't be set much lower, but lets not focus on the past and look forward to the future and hopefully some big steps forward. Here is a track about my personal favorite.

This is Daedelus' newest side project FMB (Fire Magic Blood), featuring Shafiq Husayn (Sa-Ra) and Taz Arnold. FMB is party music. Fusing elements of disco, house, and rap this song "Obama" a preview of excellent things to come in 2008 from them.

Typically cover disc are either 1. cheesy, 2. bad or 3. cheesy and bad but this latest from K7! Records is an exception. A new take on one of the greatest magicians of all time. Controversy has a bunch of artists I love show up for this record. Soulwax, D'Angelo, Kode 9 and Space Ape (!!!) and Stina Nordenstam (with an acostic style take on "Purple Rain") show up. Amazing to see covers by dubstep, reggae and soul artists.

Check out the tracks here.

Record drops the 5th. Don't miss that D'Angelo cover is smooth.

Panther hailing from Portland Oregon has a nice mix of pop, electornic and indie beats going. They are at times a bit Beck-like. Their album 14k Gold is out Febuary 14th on the reknowned Olympia (my hometown!) based label Kill Rock Stars. Panther is the two headed creation of Charlie Salas-Humara on vocals, cello, guitar, and keys and Joe Kelly on drums. Check out a track:

Mp3: Panther - "Puerto Rican Jukebox"

At times they are a bit too indie for me but there are certainly some catchy tracks mixed into this record and you know I love indie electronic.

Buy: Get 14k Gold here.
