Chicago's own Flosstradamus played a set with Chromeo this past weekend at the empty bottle. In the aftermath of that set we have 5 copies of their latest mixtape to send out. The record features tracks from Bloc Party, DJ Mehdi, the afterformentioned Chromeo, Justice and others.
The question is simple...
What is the best thing about Chicago?
My wife who is all knowing when it comes to things Chicago will be the judge. 5 best answers win. Don't forget to include your email. Good luck to yah. Check out a track while you are here:
Mp3: Sebastian - "H.A.L."
Sometime in 2007 Floss is set to release a full length LP. No idea when but should be sometime in the near future.
Contest is over. A couple people owe me emails. Sorry to everyone that picked "hot dogs" but my wife is vegan so those went right out the door. More contests coming up in the future. Thanks all that joined.

At the risk of sounding like a total fatty, I think the best thing about Chicago has to be the hot dogs, more generically the food. You could seriously just take a trip there and only concentrate on eating.
It sucks because the only place here in Seattle that served Chicago style dogs just closed down. Looks like I might have to head back east sometime.

How was that Chromeo show? My girlfriend and I tried to get to the show on Saturday night, but it was sold out by the time we made it there from Union Park.
Instead, we went and caught Narrator, Oxford Collapse, and Professor Murder at the Hideout. My disappointment at missing out on Chromeo was short lived. All three bands were fantastic. A drunken, raucous time was had by all, especially when P-Murder decided to do all dancehall versions of their songs. Fantastic.
And the best thing about Chicago is that you've got the gulliest politicians in America (not counting Buddy Cianci from Providence). Just this weekend, I heard the story of how Mayor Daley shut down Meigs Field airport in the cover of night by sending in backhoes to rip up the runway. Pretty good move.
I also like how there's a statue of Grant in Lincoln Park, and a statue of Lincoln in Grant Park.
Finally, breakfast at Orange. Yum.
all i know about chicago is
house music ;)
of all the great things about chicago (the lake, wrigley field, the bars, the brownstones, etc.) the best, far and away, is that feeling you get when the winter is finally over, and the first warm day hits. the entire city floods the streets and looks for places to drink and eat and be outside. other cities think this is no big deal, but that's because they've never been there to experience it. there's just something about knowing you all suffered through the winter together and now you're being rewarded for your patience with summer in the greatest city in the world.
Personally, after a night of revelry, I enjoy stumbling over to the Weiner Circle, where I proceed to go head-to-head, or should I say mouth-to-mouth, with the lovely ladies who work the counter, in a battle of screaming unbelievable obscenities and vulgar expressions. I usually surprise myself and my cohorts with what words fly out of my mouth, yet win or lose, I get to stuff my face with a delicious loaded dog and quietly make my way back home.
Cheers,
Josh Goldman

PS / huge fan of your blog - thanks for all the tracks.
Q: What is the best thing about Chicago?
A: Bear Pride (http://www.bearpride.org/):A "Bear Run" that occurs every year in Chicago during Memorial Day Weekend. Not an answer the general public would answer, but probably would be the most common answer from my particular sub-group of the queer community.
