Well now that we have a solution to the mini crisis of me not getting on the ball and getting tickets to Pitchfork my next thing is deciding who to see. So of these questions take care of themselves...miss De La Soul? No chance. Yoko Ono versus Cat Power? Cat Power for sure. On Saturday my schedule is going to be this I think:

Sunday - 3:00 Junior Boys, 3:30 Nomo, 5:00 Jamie Lidell, 5:30 The Cool Kids, 8:30 Klaxons, 9:00 De La Soul
Sunday is where I run into some issues with wanting to see both Nomo (3:10) and Junior Boys (3:00) and The Cool Kids (5:15) and Jamie Lidell (5:00). I've seen Lidell and his live show is fantastic. On the flip The Cool Kids are one of the freshest things to happen to hip hop this year. Probably head and see the Klaxons for a half hour then close out the festival with De La Soul at 9:00. Whatever the case I'm just happy to be going to check it all out.
Keep a look out for a tall skinny white kid with a Cubs hat and probably some variation of a reggae shirt. That will be me.

You're so lucky. Here in Barcelona we got Primavera Sound Festival which invites the same artists than Pitchfork Festival except hip hop artists. It seems hip hop can't be cool in southern Europe...
We've got the exact same schedule for Saturday.
Sunday is a beast, with so many bands I want to see playing at the exact same time! Too bad the 12-5 slots on Saturday are all kind of ehhh.
Here's my Sunday schedule: Ponys at 1:30, Nomo at 3, hopefully catch a little Sea & Cake, then Cool Kids, then the end of Lidell's set. I'll try to catch the beginning of the New Pornographers, then on to De La Soul. All that, and I have to completely skip-out on seeing Menomena!
If you see a 5'10" brown-haired dude potentially wearing an orange Durham Bulls hat, feel free to say hi.

Nomo - Book of Right On
Since afrobeat is unstoppable and I've never Nomo live, I'm super-excited to see these guys. This one is much more laid-back than most of their songs, and it's also a bit shorter...which is why it ended up on this mix. It's actually a cover of a Joanna Newsom song, if you care.
Iron & Wine and Calexico - Burn This Broken Bed

Grizzly Bear - Plans (Live on the Interface)
Here's another one that's slower than most of what I listen to...and much sadder. But it's got a nice little whistling part. It's kind of like the opposite of "Young Folks".
Cat Power - He War
Cat Power is like Feist, but with a cooler voice, and better looking. And she's absolutely insane, and known for having melt-downs at shows...hopefully we'll see some fireworks.
Deerhunter - Like New
These guys get a ton of praise on Pitchfork, but I don't get it. I am, however, quite excited to see how long I can look at their freakishly skinny lead singer without vomiting ( http://www.flickr.com/photos/petenema/473179555/in/photostream/).
The Sea and Cake - Like New
I put another one of their songs, "Up on Crutches" on the May 07 mix...I'm still listening to their newest one quite a bit.
Menomena - Rotten Hell
I love these guys. Unfortunately, Kate and I were both hungover/sick when we saw them play in April...I'm sure we'll enjoy their show much more this time around. this song starts out slow, but your patience is rewarded around the 3:15 mark with one of those great "moments within a song." "Well it's high time we step outside, drop the gloves and settle this like a man!"
The New Pornographers - Three or Four
They've got a new one out that's sitting on my hard drive waiting to be listened to. 2005's Twin Cinema (which this song is off of) was one of the best albums that year, so I'm expecting good things once again.
Oxford Collapse - Lose City
Remember the Night Parties is one of my favorite albums of this year (even if it came out last year...it's all about when I first heard it). Their stuff isn't groundbreaking or anything, but it's incredibly fun.
The Ponys - Today
I put two songs off their excellent Turn the Lights Out on the March 07 Mix. So I decided to go to 2005's Celebration Castle (also quite good) to grab a song for this mix.
Jamie Lidell - What's the Use?
Lidell was doing the blue-eyed Brit-soul thing before Amy Winehouse. The difference though is that Lidell produces his own beats. His live show features him remaking some of his beats live, and singing over just-created loops and drum patterns. All the while, he comes across as one of the nicest guys in the world, who really seems to be having a blast performing and making music. Plus, dude can sing and make some good songs.
Junior Boys - In the Morning
My New Year's resolution two years ago was to try to stop using the words "retarded" and "gay." Unfortunately, I can't think of any better way of describing this song than: it's pretty gay, but I kind of like it.
Of Montreal - I Was Never Young
This song always puts a smile on my face. It's a nearly perfect little pop song.
Klaxons - Gravity's Rainbow
These guys are the latest overly-hyped Brit band. I was ready to buy into the hype when I first heard this song. Unfortunately, nothing else on their album sounds anything like this.
Professor Murder - Free Stress Test
Ladies and gentlemen, I present the number one reason you should come to Chicago. P-Murder has only released an EP ( Professor Murder Rides the Subway), but they're already vying for #1 rock band in my heart. Tons of drums and percussion, obscure hip-hop references (ex "$50 check, temple of hip-hop" and calling a song "Cam-ron's New Color"), and tons of energy. I'll be dancing like an idiot (really, the only way I know how to dance) when these guys come on.
De La Soul - Verbal Clap
They're old, but they've still got it going on. Take, as evidence, this Jay Dee produced banger off of The Grind Date.
The Cool Kids - 88
These Chicago natives have quickly become a blogger/hipster favorite.
GZA - Liquid Swords
I'm going to miss his sold-out Friday show, but I had to include this Wu classic.
Clipse - Zen
The song that should have been included on Hell Hath No Fury...it would have been bigger than "Grindin'" If only...
