Ok probably a bit of an exaggeration given they have only put out one full LP. But, next to DJ Shadow's Entroducing there is no better album in my opinion period. If I could choose only one record to take to a desert island Since I Left You would be the one.

Supposedly Modular and The Avalanches are promising the release of a new record soon (there was At Last Alone in 2001), but after six years of waiting I am getting ansey. There have been the Presets, Soulwax, Wolfmother, Cut Copy, Yeah Yeah Yeahs and even my new love Chromeo all putting out notable releases on Modular People. However, regardless of the talent level nothing can take the place of The Avalanches' sound.

They did release this stellar remix off of the Franz Ferdinand "Eleanor Put Your Boots On" single. There is also a Wolfmother remix floating around out there as well. Check it out.

Mp3: Franz Ferdinand - "Fade Together" (Avalanches Remix)

Hopefully some of my friends who are IN Australia can give me some hope or some insider Aussie knowledge on the group to keep me hungry.

Buy: Since I Left You here or At Last Alone here.

True,
Been a fan since the first EP - check out "Rock City" for some fine flavour.
But what will they sound like without Dexter's cutting and scratching?
Looking forward to some new action!

there ain't a whole lotta hype that i've heard round oz about new avalanches, there was talk a while back, but there's always a little bit of talk if you dig hard enuf...

all i know is dexta is still doing his dj gigs locally, and he did that track on kool keith, the avalances havn't done much at all together... we can only hope tho.

have you heard their first EP El Producto? that's what got into their sound at first, i ripped my cd onto my pc recently and have been loving it again ;p

totally agree, the depth of the avalanches is amzazing, i know dexta has left em a while back, and i read an interview with the remaining 3 members last year...and they said they were working on the new album and that since i left you was mostly compiled from their sample sources..not the ones who have since left...part from that can't say much more ...cept cmon boys, we needs tha beats!

Didn't it take seven years to make 'Since I Left You'?

Also, for the record Dj Dexter's Mix: 'Mix Up Triple J Part 1' is possibly my favourite EVER.

That sounds right Andrew. You have a link to where somebody can get the DJ Dexter Mix? Is it available in CD form?
