Alright...I think I might be insane. Outside of my uncle and my girlfriend I can't find anyone that is into The Shield. Not one. Oh sure there are tons that are into Lost, American Idol, or some other crap of the month show but nobody is watching this. Sure its gotten some acclaim but none of my friends check this show out on a weekly basis.

Lets start with the basics for the beginners out there. The show created by Shawn Ryan airs on FX and chronicles an experimental police precinct set up in the fictional Farmington neighborhood ("the Farm") in LA. The main story line follows Vic Mackey (aka Michael Chiklis or The Commish) and his Strike Team, a four-man anti-gang unit based on the LAPD's real-life Rampart Division CRASH unit. In addition to this is a labyrinth of storylines impenetrable to new viewers.

The Shield is raw. From the cinematography to lack of background music to the themes and emotions it deals with. There is womanizing, racism, violence, homophobia, citizens' distrust of police, the social impact of drugs and gang warfare, and the conflict between ethics and political expediency. Now that is alot going on right? Maybe this is why people don't watch it with the frequency of Lost, the UK ripoff The Office, or American Idol.

Its difficult to watch racism, violence, and poverty, but they are a reality. So instead of watching who the next 17 year old singer corporate America is going to ram down your throat check out a show that has some realism.

Ohh and as a side note, this season stars Forest Whittaker as an IAD officer investigating the Strike Team and he is wonderful. He is a shoe in to win something in my opinion. On top of that Ghost Dog kicks ass. Que up some past Shield seasons on the NetFlix suckers and get on board.

I think Lost is alot better than most of the dramas on network tv. Sometimes I find it annoying that they try and throw way to many twists in the storyline.

Don't get me wrong its a good show I just find it frustrating that after each episode I feel like nothing is moving in any type of direction.

I saw that picture and automatically thought of Ghost Dog. I learned so much from that film!
