First thing is first, Kyp Malone has one of the best looks in indy music today. EQ described his look as a prodigious beard and moustache topped off with a mighty topiary of a hairdo. TV on the Radio is all the buzz right now, not Arctic Monkey type hype, but pretty big hype. I am loving what I am hearing and am very excited about this upcoming album their second full length record. So, save AG a spot at the back of the wagon I am officially jumping on board.
The Brooklyn-based trio consists of vocalist/animator Tunde Adebimpe, multi-instrumentalist/producer David Andrew Sitek (who produced the Yeah Yeah Yeahs debut) and guitarist Kyp Malone. There sound has been described as post-rock/punk, electronic mixed with other atmoshperic elements...ok sure. I don't do well in classifying music myself, all I can say is I like what I am hearing. Be sure to check it out:
Mp3: TV on the Radio - "I Was a Lover"
Mp3: TV on the Radio - "Wolf Like Me"*
Be sure to buy TV on the Radio's Return To Cookie Mountain when its released in June.

While "Return to Cookie Mountain" is good (the album has leaked), so far I would say that it's not as good as "Desperate Youth, Blood Thirsty Babes." I was a little dissapointed. Maybe it will grow on me.
They are playing the Showbox in Seattle on May 5th.
