Looks like the notorious broken 17th Street Canal levee in New Orleans that the Bush administration originally claimed they did not know about is a crock of crap. In an article out today by the NY Times the Bush Administration lied about being surprised. They were told on Tuesday, Aug. 30, that a levee had broken, allowing floodwaters to engulf New Orleans.

Congressional investigators have learned that an eyewitness account of the flooding from a federal emergency official reached the Homeland Security Department's headquarters starting at 9:27 p.m. the day before, and the White House itself at midnight. Well, before when the Bush administration claimed to know about the broken levee.

I guess Bush administration lying should be par for the course by now but this type of mistake, this type of blunder cost lives and to try and pass it off and lie about it? Disgusting.
