Indie 2006 album hotness.

Here is a short list of albums that are pretty much everywhere right now. If you rock tight black clothes, gelled messy hair, dark rimmed glasses, and vintage teeshirts and haven't heard of theses you should be ashamed of yourself...seriously ashamed.

Arctic Monkeys - Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not
They already have a top UK Single, and press lined up with Rolling Stone, Spin, Entertainment Weekly, and Interview, to name a few. Definitely the most hyped, but there is a reason for that. The album has the yupsters gushing and it should be a good one from the stuff I have heard thus far. Be ready to rawk. These guys are my favorite of the 2006 indie music scene thus far. (Buy it).

Morningwood - Morningwood
Well the name is crappy but their sound supposedly isn't. Look, I am skeptical of any band that John Norris likes and a band that is trying to market their music to the TRL crowd, but thats just me. Nth Degree IS pretty catchy though...so I am probably just a moron who knows nothing about good music. (Buy it).

I am just thankful that these new bands are going away from the "The (insert objects)" band naming. But this next band is not. Though you do have to give them credit for adding an adjective.

The Metal Hearts - Socialize
The music blogs are all about these guys with posts from I Am Floating and My Old Kentucky recently. Described as sonically meshing together the angular bites of Long Drive-era Modest Mouse, the expansive bedroom drone of Arab Strap, and the subtle whispers of Cat Power. Sounds promising. Ok sure sounds like something I might like. The tracks indeed are pretty good, nothing that really stands out in my opinion though. (Buy).

Sufjan Stevens - Georgia Peach
Sufjan (SOOF-yawn) Stevens is also rumored to be releasing his new record "Georgia Peach" in June of 2006. His 3rd album of his 50 state marketing tour. Rumor has it that the first single is going to be "The Shortest Man, the Nastiest Dunk" after Atlanta Hawk 5'7 great Spud Webb's historic dunk in 1986. Soofy says that his inspiration came from Shaq Diesel's 1993 smash "Shoot Pass Slam." Be sure to check it out.

Actually...I lied he said he isn't going to make music for awhile, read it here. He is going to work on a book or write for the next couple years. Makes sense. I think he maybe should submit some works to the Academic Journal of Awesomeness about how he can make 8.8* rated records whenever he feels like it. Or maybe he should just lie around eat crackers and cheese and think on how he is stereogum's best looking indie dude in 2005.
