Today's NY Times has a link to John McCain’s article "Better Health Care at Lower Cost for Every American" in the Sept./Oct. issue of Contingencies, the magazine of the American Academy of Actuaries. Here is the direct quote:

Opening up the health insurance market to more vigorous nationwide competition, as we have done over the last decade in banking, would provide more choices of innovative products less burdened by the worst excesses of state-based regulation.

It's hard to believe he said this after the week we've just endured. Let's hope the Big Mac keeps up these gaffes until November.

i think this crisis is really going cement McCain's doom. Lets not forget that while he tries to distance himself from this mess he is a member of both Interstate Commerce, Trade, and Tourism and the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation.
