Grammy-winning producer Ace Levinson and Ropeadope founder Andy Hurwitz have gotten together to create a tribute to the cultural mecca that is Harlem, NYC. This is the third installment of the experiement series released by Ropeadope. The first two cities featured where Philly (home of the label) and Detroit.
The cultural depth of Harlem seeps out of this record with a mixture of jazz, funk, hip hop and soul. The 15 track deep record features like Taj Mahal, James Hunter, Olu Dara, Queen Esther, Don Byron and the Harlem House Band. The "House Band" has played with some of the greats from David Bowie to Run DMC. Check out a track of the new record:
