first up, most definitely mf doom. he'd rock that so hard.

if he wasn't available, i'd send up lord quasimoto, just because it would be hilarious.

third: merzbow. give it up for some noise on top of that electromix.

fourth: the girls from go! team. have you heard cuts like a vice (acapella) yet? they're like a self-contained party, right there.

fifth: st. vincent. for the contrast.

hellz yes, excellent contest!

Nice contest, dude.

1. Bob Dylan. He's the man, the best character of modern music.

2. Madlib. I'd be so interested to talk with him about music. I bet I could get a lot of positive things from his point of view.

3. The Pipettes. Hottest girl band ever.

4. Quentin Tarantino. Just to show to a frustrated director how to be a weirdo and make money.

5. LluĂs Companys. President of the Catalan Republic till Franco assassinated him.

1. Harry Nilsson - No one does world-weary pop like Schmilsson. I can smell the irony now of "you think over and over hey i'm finally dead".

2. Django Reinhardt - He and Stephane Grappelli would invert the original's minimalist bent with enough Benelux charm to encourage us to actually like the French.

3. Green Gartside (of Scitti Politti) - A little blue-eyed soul makes everything better. Add some Cupid and Psyche synths and you have a FM juggernaut. Circa 1985.

4. Bruce Springsteen - No, this is not an ironic choice - compare the lyrics sheets of post-Born to Run Boss with All my Friends and you'll see personal drama played on a grand stage. Recorded live, for sure.

5. The Dismemberment Plan - Why not? I think the band's energy and T. Morrison's delivery would sell the song quite well, a la Ice of Boston.

1. Babe Ruth
2. Rodney Dangerfield
3. Frank Sinatra
4. Winston Churchill
5. Helen of Troy

all these people in the same room would probably be interesting. Tough to imagine Rodney hitting on Helen by making fun of Winston. Winston would have an amazing retort, that the Babe and Frank wouldnt get because they'd be loaded at the bar.

is this who would be best on the track?

1. David Bowie should cover it.

2. I'd be tempted to see a rapper spit over it, but nah, hip hop with piano loops is never great. So let Chromeo in on the action!

3. The Cinematic Orchestra, to add to the overall feel of this track

4. Hot Chip

5. get Boards of Canada to do a remix!

Bill Hicks: Hard to find a smarter, funnier, more insightful commentator on culture, politics and the world around us. Taken away much too early.

Keith Richards: He's borderline self-parody at this point, but it's hard to think of someone that would have better rock+roll stories to tell (if you can understand what he's saying)

Bob Pollard: Can't think of anyone I'd rather split a case of Miller Lite with.

Anthony Bourdain: I would love to travel with this guy. Plus, chefs are great friends to have.

Richard D. James (Aphex Twin): It might be cool to have a friend that completely FREAKS you out.

Catie says:

Emile Berliner - inventor of the vinyl record, and man who started it all (way better than thomas e... lightbulbs... who needs them?)

Gavin McInnes - write of Vice Magazine's do's and don't. I'm not even sure I can get a stick that far up my ass...

MC Marina Ribatski - lead of Bonde de Role. She makes me want to grow out my hair, just so I can chop it all off again to start a band with a piece of equipment I don't even need.

Shia LeBouf - have you ever heard a conversation with this guy? He's like a carni-actor-hippie-love-child that exists in symbiosis with a mousekateer. I can't image meeting him would be anything short of a mind-fuck

Pedro Winter (a.k.a. Busy P) - this guy RUNS Ed Banger Records and is married to the chick who runs Colette. I just want to shake the awesome out of him and drink it with an pinch of lime.

-ciao
