Nah not really, but Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings are bringing back that 1960's funk sound. Strip the track of the artist name and there is no way you place this track in the 21st century. This track is from their 2005 release Naturally.
This track is undeniable. According to Wikipedia Sharon Jones and The Dap-Kings are made up of various musicians in the New York Deep Funk scene. The group is signed to the Daptone label. If you like funk this track comes highly recommended. This lady can sing! Their record 100 Days, 100 Nights is due out sometime 2007.

DAAAAAAAMN!
You gotta love Sharon!
Sharon Jones is definately one of my faves. If you love this raw funk sound, also check The Bamboos out of my hometown of Melbourne. Their first album is on emusic on Ubiquity. Hopefully their latest release finds its way there too.
Sharon Jones should *hopefully* be playing the WRUV grand opening party at UVM's new student center this August. Come back to VT for some funk.
(I'm the music director of WRUV and a lurker of your blog..RJD2 on Saturday?)
when i saw them play in bristol she was heckled to 'play some funk'. sharon's reply was 'you will hear nothing BUT funk tonight young man' and that put the cheeky fucker in his place.
