Just got back. Negril was amazing and I would highly recommend it to anyone interested. We made (and had) some local contacts down there that totally set us up and made us feel at home. If you ever are interested in heading down there get in contact with me. Makes traveling so much easier when you know people that know the local spots.
We stayed at a great non-americanized resort in Negril. Met one of the most friendly human beings I have ever known in an I-tal rasta named Gifford. Gifford pretty much became or right hand man as he hung out with us all week.
Only regret is that I didn't pick up any music when I was there. Never really went shopping. I just couldn't pull myself away from the ocean. Spent alot of time just swimming and laying next to the water. So relaxing. Such great culture, people and lifestyle down there. Wish I could have found a great little record shop but thats just all the more excuses to get back there.

Welcome back. I have to agree with you about Nigril. It's fantastic. We got a small raft and some masks and snorkels and explored the coast around the place we stayed. It was incredible! The coast around there is sheer rock cliffs but there are caves all along the way, some of which had small beaches inside where we could pull our raft up and sit in the sand(in the back of the cave). My fav had a small beach and a hole in the ceiling where we could here cars passing on the road above. Man that brings back good memories. I can't wait to go back sometime. I never went shopping while I was there so I can't hold that one against you. With so much to do in Jamaica shopping was low on my list, despite my love of reggae(Roots & Dub). Glad to have you back.
thanks t.s. still adjusting to being back in VT. jamtown was so so great.
