I have always been confused about the record industry, the world of music at large. What is the formula for a hit record? Especially in hip-hop where you see 50 cent and Diddy sell a gazillion records and choice discs by Darc Mind, People Under the Stairs, Murs and 9th Wonder, Aloe Blacc, Masta Killah and M-1 (I got more if you want) get no play and little talk.

Regretably I haven't gotten around to post about Roc C's debut record All Questions Answered. Mr. Roc is from Oxnard, CA which is notable because of all the other talent that has come from the neighborhood (notably Lootpack, Dudley Perkins and Oh No). This record has great production (thanks largely to Oh No who does 10 of the 16 cuts) and Roc C's delivery is fitting. Nothing sensational but roc solid and consistent which can't be said about many of the "hip-hop" albums released this year.

This is a great standard Westcoast hip hop album on what is largely an eccentric and off centered label. Thats not a rip in this case I find it refreshing. Check out some highlights if you have been neglecting this album like me.

what i think quality hip hop is missing, that the crap has, is the ass shaking qualities. you cant compare masta killa to 50. its totally different music, not only in quality, but in sound. i dont go out anymore because i cant handle listening to all that sh*t, but i really wish we could see one of the good labels (stones throw, ect.) put out an artist that makes girls want to shake it when the beat drops. ya know? i think the closest thing we have is ohmega watts.
