I am sure glad we have the Tour De France around. It really showcases what America is all about. First we send a jerk. Then when the jerk decides to retire we send an accused cheater (not that Lance wasn't on the juice). Surely Americans aren't both jerks and cheaters are they?
Ahh well. Win at all costs right? You fly that thing Mr. Landis. Who ever said there was anything wrong with a little extra manliness in your system. What are we going to do...punish people for a little extra testosterone?! Hell you can test any dude at a Nascar race or Ultimate Fighting match and see that most Americans are suffering from "unusual" levels of testosterone.
Update: In Landis' defense they haven't found out for certain whether he cheated and unlike in France its innocent until proven guilty here. That doesn't exclude the fact that cycling is more corrupt than an Abramoff/Delay House barbecue. Sorry to offend the cycling enthusiasts.

C'mon K, don't play judge, jury and executioner just yet. Let the B sample be judged and see what the interactions are with his cortisone situation.
Remember, the test is a ratio. If the epitestosterone is low, the ratio is of course going to be out of whack.
And by the way, Lance is cool. Most pro athletes have to be some kind of a dick in some way - that's part of how they got (or are getting) to where they are (or will be....whatever). That's just my opinion.
I was rather suprised by this as well. Your ready to burn the guy for a subjective test. Here is a link to the test that was preformed.

Essentially your ratio is a indicator that something is wrong. One cause could be steriods, but there are several other potential causes.
Here is another interesting article.

Again showing the test has holes.
+++++Landis says that an elevated level of testosterone is different from a positive test. He says this is a fairly common problem among pro cyclists. He's retaining the services of a Spanish doctor named Luis Hernandez, who has helped other riders shown by tests to have elevated levels of testosterone. "In hundreds of cases," Landis told me, "no one's ever lost one."++++ (I can't get Italics to work)
Regarding Landis I am joking...its tongue and cheek. You might argue that the guys integrity is not something to be joked about but this is just a tiny vermont blog so who cares.
I still stand by Lance being a jerk. Thats no joke.
Well looks like the links won't work.
Lance supports Bush...which means he's a dick.
As for Landis, anyone with a mustache like that will test as having abnormally high testosterone levels. He can't help it.
Its too bad the americans can't win anything these days without some questions of being clean. Guess its just a result of the culture you have over there.
Not sure why or how Colbs thinks Lance is cool. The guy is a straight up prick. If dumping your wife and supporting GW is cool well then I guess I get your logic.
Why do pro athletes need to be "dicks in some way"? You can be nice and get just as far in life. It should not be assumed that you need to step on people to lift yourself up.
I've always been a proponent of having an Olympics where drugs are fully welcomed. Let's see what kind of freaks science can create and what they can do with those new bodies. You know you would tune in for that every night and twice on weekends.
Billy, regarding your comment about pro athletes being dicks, in general, you are right. However, there are guys like Brian McBride (Fulham striker), who just annonced his retirement from International soccer, who are great guys and easy to root for.
I agree with Billy. Albert Pujols comes to mind when I think of top notch players who are great people as well.
Flatlander,
Truer words couldn't be spoken about the great Brian McBride! He's an extremely nice dude. He didn't even get mad when I stole his cab.
