I am sure everyone is aware that Abu Musab al-Zarqawi public enemy #2 was killed yesterday. The death of Iraq's most wanted militant has triggered positive but guarded reactions. The death of al-Zarqawi, the most wanted terrorist in Iraq, who was killed in U.S. airstrike is certainly a victory for those that believe in violence as a means to peaceful ends.

I doubt that the killing of al-Zarqawi will end the violence in Iraq. I am sure there all sorts of people ready to take his place. So I wouldn't count on the violence ending anytime soon. It should also be noted that the father of Nicholas Berg, a US soldier who the Al Qaeda in Iraq leader is believed to have beheaded, blames Bush not al-Zarqawi.

I was listening to BBC yesterday and an interesting question was brought up. Since the US acted on tips from a terror network insider to find al-Zarqawi which they then in turn bombed.

Question: If the US knew where al-Zarqawi was, why drop two 500-pound laser-guided bombs on him? Shouldn't they have captured him and held him for the atrocities which he committed?

Again I am not taking sides just raising the question.

Update: al-Zarqawi was alive when Iraq police arrived. He was placed on a stretcher where he later died from his wounds.

UN intelligence has known of al-Zarqawi's location since 2002. He was protected in the no-fly Kurdish northern sector. Why wasn't he killed/captured previously? al-Zarqawi was an asset, the administration got daily briefings for a year leading up to the war, but it was decided not to take him out fearing that it would jeopardize the "product" i.e. the invasion of Iraq. Two factors lead up to the killing, Al Qaeda complained to us that he was getting out of hand, and second, Bush needed something to try to boost his sagging support. So we used him for four years to support the war effort whilst 700 innocent people were killed by al-Zarqawi's bombings. Me a conspirist? Who was Bush Sr watching the WTC buildings fall on TV with? Osama's brother. Who was the Bushes family first major trading partner? Osama's other brother. This is all verifiable. Remember how Osama got away after we bottled him up in Takrit? We handed the job of capturing him to our Afgani fighter friends, who we KNEW were sympathetic towards him.

It's sickening what this tyranny at home has brought about, all for the love of money. Bush, Cheney and Haliburton.
