Lindstrøm & Prins Thomas have a remix of Roxy Music's track "Avalon" originally released in 1982. A winding spaced out (do they do any other kind?) electronic track. For those that don't know Bryan Ferry headed the band Roxy Music back in the 1970s. You can see a video of Mr. Ferry performing the song live back in 1982.

Cruising the neon-washed strip in a white 1989 Lamborghini Countach, That's the first thing that popped into my head when I heard this new track from LA's own Plastic Plates. He calls this song'Toys'--maybe because of the toy piano in melody, I wonder?--but this song shows off this talented producer's utterly fantastic synth work. With no Lambo to cruise with, I'll just have to flip this song on repeat and keep daydreaming.

Now that I have posted my favorite albums its time to move on to a discussion about the best tracks of 2011. Before I list my favorites I suggest you listen to U-Tern's best tracks of 2011 first.

You done listening? Cool, now lets get to our list. There was so much great music out there. I am sure I have missed a ton of it. These aren't necessarily the biggest tracks of the year (note no Adele) but the tracks that I particularly enjoyed and listed to many times. Love to hear some of the largest oversights. I know I am missing some Roots tracks but haven't gotten a chance to listen to that record yet. Check out the list and let us know what you think!

Looking for more music to rock your end-of-year party? Whatever mood you're going for, these three remixes will please your crowd. First up is an outstanding Basement Jaxx remix from Canadian producer Laberge. It's a skillfully synthed take on one of my all-time-favorite Jaxx tracks, Jump N' Shout. Next is a pretty weird but ultimately awesome remix of Eye of the Tiger from Cosmonaut Grechko, who has consistently been one of my favorite producers over the year. New album by Swiss electronic artist Dimlite. Now Again records his releasing the third album Grimm Reality. Dimlite is a bit of a schizophrenic and the new album shows this. Its part Misel Quitno, the low-fidelity electro-acoustic style and part the Slapped Eyeballers, a two-headed, world-rock-folk combo. The record reminds me of something out of the mind of Prefuse 73 a pysch out instrumental album that is a bit off the wall. The album art is very cool.

Some regulars here on Analog Giant (Mark E and Dillon Francis) then a new track that was shared with us. A nice indie jam by Manor. Never heard of them but they supposedly will be having an album coming out in 2012 and what I have heard from this single I am expecting great things. Really nice building pop track. Manor is an Adelaide, Australia-based duo made up of Nathaniel Morse and Caitlin Duff. They must know we love so much of the music that comes out of Australia. This is no exception. Check it out.

Some great new tracks hit the web this week. My first pick is Pocketknife's "Willow Song" a very uncharacteristic Analog Giant track. Slow, accoustic track from a film called "Wicker Man." I have never seen it but this track is mellow. Nice work.

Some edits and remixes for your weekend. The first is old but a really good edit by LA's Kingdom that I had not heard before. Nice track to get the weekend going. If you have not heard the various incarnations of Flight Facilities' track "Foreign Language" you are really missing out. This remix is by Beni but there are a couple others out there that are equally as good.

The final track and a perfect one to wind your weekend down is Daedelus' remix of "Turn on the Sunlight." Simply wonderful. No doubt we love Mayer Hawthorne. As any frequent AG visitors knows we have been a big supporter of him since the beginning. Super excited to see his sophomore album picked up by Universal. Good to see good people do well. We loved the single "Long Time" and even "The Walk" but what is the deal with this video? Its lame...a weak Mr. and Mrs. Smith. Probably wasn't cheap but there is just no innovation, no character that we are used to seeing from Mayer. Maybe I've raised the bar too high but the video for "Long Time" is fresh. Hope this video is just a blip on the radar.

Spank Rock aka Naeem Juwan (MC Spank Rock) and producer Alex Epton (XXXChange) have finally released a follow up to their great debut. The duo will be touring in support of their second record, Everything Is Boring and Everyone Is a F***ing Liarand our set to land in Chicago on October 28th at The Mid. I have never seen them live but based on the pictures and video I have seen it looks like they put on one hell of a show.

I still love listening to "Rick Rubin" on a regular basis. Their first single from this record is "Energy" which feels more poppy than hip hop. It comes across as a bit of a Talking Heads/TV on the Radio hybrid...regardless its a nice introduction to the new record. Check it out...

We lost one of our favorites today. DJ Mehdi was killed in a freak roof top accident in France while celebrating at a birthday party with friends. He was way too young and way too talented to go so early. We will miss you Mehdi. Rest in peace.

Out today on DJ Eleven's 11 Inch Records, is Vancouver's Kutcorners' EP. "Diamond" brings back that boogie sound and features Curtis Santiago (vocals kinda reminds me of Steve Arrington). Here's the latest EP of badass boogie cut-ups from Wolverhampton's Letherette duo. Their chops are just as tight this time out, covering dusted Dilla-esque HipHop, cosmic soul, and one heavyweight Boogie-House job. A-side slydes through the elastic funk of 'Bruse', a gorgeous Dilla-style harp and sitar chop up on 'In And Out', and stuttering soul on 'Shoe Be Do'. Flip it and you'll be smacked with 'No Point', a killer Thomas Bangaltar-style disco-House cut-up treatment deserving of instant anthem status, sitting next to two Madlib-like HipHop joints.

French electro producer Sebastian is coming to the states for a few select shows. We have had our eye on him since he released Ross Ross Ross back in 2006. Its now five years later and his album Total came out in May and it has some good tracks on it. My favorite and album standout is the track "Love in Motion" featuring one of our favorites Mayer Hawthorne. Sebastian is playing The Congress Theater next week on September 3rd. Don't miss it. Should be a great party.

The Black Sands record by Bonobo is a really excellent record that I recommend that you check out when you get the chance. Duke Dumont does a wonderful job of adding a cinematic and almost haunting quality to Bonobo's track "Black Sands." Really cool atmospheric sound added to this one. He has not made embeding the player available so you need to head over to his Soundcloud spot to check it out.
