I've got some serious hometown pride for Macklemore--if you haven't heard of him, it's time to fix that. People have been buzzing for years about this guy but this new stuff takes it to another level: for example, this Ryan Lewis remix of Otherside (featuring Fences). This is the kind of quality that's coming out of Seattle right now. It's off of the excellent remix VS Redux album. Macklemore has been pretty up front about his struggles in the past and you can hear that realness in this track. Strong work.

Really great halloween mix to be playing at all your halloween party. Boy 8-bit creates a wonderfully creepy sound by mixing together all sorts of scary movie themes and sound clips. Not to be missed!

OK, here we go--this is the kind of show I like to see coming through Seattle. Paris-based producer Onra is hitting the Lo-Fi here in Seattle next Tuesday, Nov. 2nd. I don't even know how to begin to classify this guy, so I won't, but we loved his previous records and there are beats involved. Tasty ones.

Can't link directly to Onra's tracks directly for some reason, but you can listen here. Oh, and you can check out openers WD4D, Absolute Madman + MC Sage, Suntzu Sound, and Introcut. See you there.

As I try and keep my head above water with school, work and baby on the way I wanted to point everyone to a bit of afrobeat. This video was shot by Tom Bass and provides an interesting look on and off stage of Ghanaian musician Ebo Taylor. Video features the single, "Love and Death" off his record of the same name out now on Strut Records. Check it out.

Chicago-based Bit Funk takes on Analog Giant favorite Ghosts of Venice with this suave remix of Her. Quick-steppin' disco, for sure, but not the fist-pumpin, bust-out-the-serious-face type. No, see, this is the kind of song you nod your head to while you pop out to grab a drink at the bar. Maybe get your shoulder sway going on. The possibilities with this song are endless.

Stumbled across this remix of Homboi by Nautic. Admittedly I don't know anything about either one of them. Nautic describes himself as a 16 year old german "boy" making French house music. Homboi a fellow countryman of Nautic. Check out the remix and the original. Feel free to post in comments about how you know more about these two than I do. This is a great track regardless.

Great remix by Four Tet. This time he is remixing one of our favorite tracks ever. He does a great job of putting a new twist on Lindstrøm and Christabelle's "Lovesick." Loving this remix. Not as much as the original but close. Check it out.

If you missed it, Starsmith dropped this minimix on Annie Mac's (always brilliant) show on BBC Radio 1 this week, and well...what can you say really? It's a mandatory listen. It's five pure, triple-distilled minutes of that sound I can't get enough of right now. And if you're still not familiar with Annie's show and the minimix format--it's definitely time to get familiar.

Kanye West remixes La Roux's year old track "In for the kill." There is a Kelis cover and a Miike Snow remix around on the internets as well. Love La Roux's sound and of course you know our love affair with Kanye West, well at least for one of us...that continues...check out the track.

Look, don't get me wrong. I love Phoenix. I'm all about Phoenix. But Listzomania is one of those songs that was so everywhere all at once that it got a little played out for me. That's why it's so cool when a phenomenal remix, like this one from Shook, makes me see the track from a completely new angle. Shook re-engineers this track from the ground up, layering super-clean synth lines with lip-biting funkitude. Definitely worth checking out. Oh, and get this: the track's available for download, too!

Another solid remix from Rhythm Plate, this time taking on the Ivory Coast's Alpha Blondy and his 1982 track 'Jah Glory'. Where was this bit of deliciousness back in the summer when I needed it? I like the original, but man, that disco beat completely changes this track's vibe for me. Excuse me while I squint my eyes and try to wish myself back to July.

Atomic Clock is the latest album from Zion I (Amp Live & Zumbi). The Oakland based duo has been active since 1997. The combination of Amp Live's production paired with the socially concious forward thinking lyrics of Zumbi have always been a welcome addition to the hip hop landscape.

Atomic Clock has a really great sound. It is due out Nov. 9th on Gold Dust. Check out some tracks.

Great music from SBTRKT aka Subtracked. The masked London based producer is quite elusive however he has garnered quite a bit of praises from the likes of Mary Anne Hobbs, Toddla T, Sinden and Gilles Peterson. Hes done remixes for Basement Jaxx, Portico Quartet, Goldie and Fantastic Mr Fox.

His debut solo release out now Young Turks records. Check out some tracks. "Step into the Shadows" is one of my favorites. Also some great stuff from his work with Sampha.

You've got to see this new jam from those fantastically poppy Mystery Jets--I think it might be the first pommel-horse themed music video in history. The song is a cut from their latest album, seratonin, available here. The Count and Sinden song featuring the Mystery Jets, After Dark, is still one of my favorite jams of the year.
