U-Tern strikes again with some fantastic remixes of Mark Ronson and LexiconDon. The man of many talents creates great remixes, podcasts and I am sure DJ sets. I have never seen him live but his podcast One Day Later is always must listen. Check out his latest work.
Awesome per usual. Cool concept with a bit of Pan's Labyrinth. Might be their best one yet. Damn.

Nice new take "I Need You" that originally showed up on Mayer's Strange Arrangement. This time around the single is being featured as a part of a 1-sided 12" produced by Nottz backed with etching by Freegums.
The vocal and instrumental of “I Need You” are both on one side of this single. The flip side contains an etching by Miami illustrator Freegums. The record is due out August 17th.
Really love this ambient piano track that I came across listening to the Shock World Service at work. Idioma was also featured on two big remixes, Fabriclive 51 mixed by Duke Dumont and Live At Robert Johnson Vol 5 mixed by Roman Fluegel. Its easy to hear why, as this track is really nice. Check out the original and a remix by DFA records Sh*t Robot.

Check out this inspirational mullet-tastic video for GRUM's new single, "Through the Night". It's like the pure, blinding glory of the 1980s parted the clouds and materialized in the form of a buddy cop movie.
Oh, and I'm also really feelin' these fresh new GRUM remixes. Oh so synthy.

Another day, another freaky remix from RESET! This time, they completely obliterate Goldhawks' Keep the Fire and then rebuild it, Lee Majors style, into a filthy disco juggernaut.
Goldhawks - Keep The Fire (Reset! Remix) by RESET!
Another gorgeous night in Seattle, another hipster-fueled inferno of french-bohemian muscle shirts and not-quite-sure-if-ironic? capri pants. But once again, the bands deliver!
Take portland-based Blitzen Trapper, for example--this is a band I've been wanting to catch live since their stellar 2008 album Furr. Man, they did not disappoint. We don't usually cover this folky flavor of music here on Analog Giant, but they're every bit worth checking out--they're like a golden, extra-hoppy local microbrewed beer. An earnest, hand-crafted sound. The most surprising thing? They definitely cranked the rockitude up a couple notches for their live act. Don't miss these guys if you get a chance to see them live.
A big special award goes out to "!!!" for the most wildly enthusiastic dancing seen yet. One of my most anticipated shows of the weekend, it was a colorful flurry of tambourines. These guys threw down a great live set--this band is a trip.I also dropped by the Vera stage to check out the hip-hop showcase featuring Spaceman, State of the Artist, and Grynch. The stage was small and it wasn't easy to hear, but the crowd was really into it--they were partying harder here than at the main stage! I'm looking forward to seeing these guys at a dedicated gig.

Active Child aka Pat Grossi is an L.A.-based songwriter. As a kid Grossi sang with the Philadelphia Boys Choir, his voice paired with synths and other various electronic beats creates a unique sound. One of our favorite remixing duos, Classixx just did a great remix of his track "When Your Love is Safe" which is really great. Check it out.
The 2 Bears are Raf Rundell and Joe Goddard. Joe is a producer, remixer, solo-artist and one fifth of Hot Chip. Raf works in club promotion and works as a DJ for Greco-Roman Soundsystem, radio show hosting and artist management.

Really fresh house jam that I first heard awhile back thanks to DJ U-Tern. Turns out that more and more people are getting into these dudes. This month they joined Annie Mac to put together a mini mix. Yolanda Be Cool is Sylvester Martinez and Johnson Peterson and they often collaborate with Australian producer DCUP aka Duncan MacLennan.
Check out a couple tracks and that Annie Mac mix. Really great stuff coming out of Australia these days. Check out their Charlie Chaplin-esque video.

William Bottin is producer, DJ and sound designer based in Venice, Italy. He goes simply by Bottin and makes some great disco house, funk and electronic music. The sound we are currently obsessed with. He is also on a record label we just can't get enough of (Eskimo). Check out his take on the Steve Miller Band along with some other fantastic remixes.

Be sure to check back all weekend for Analog Giant's coverage of the festival, but before the party really gets cracking tonight, let's set the scene with a new track from our local Blue Scholars. It's summertime in the SEA.
Really nice jam by Count and Sinden featuring Mystery Jets. E sent this over and I am really enjoying this. Great single. Also just so happens that my favorite dudes on the planet decided to do a remix of the Mystery Jets as well. You should check out that below thanks to Eskimo Records.

Bay Area musician Dan Judd aka Sorcerer is no cheap conjurer of tricks. The kid has a great sound ala Lindstrom and Prins Thomas or as he calls it "nu-balearic-cosmic-disco-slow-mo-awesome-house". He is also part of the equally great groups Hatchback and Windsurf. Check out some of his awesome music on Soundcloud.

Wow...seems like a club smash hit with this one by the Swedish House Mafia featuring Pharrell. I of course will have to take people's word on that. I'll just bump it on my desktop computer. Check it out.
Ok, this band right here--it's a Force of Pure Funktivity. I give a lot of attention to the local hip hop scene here in Seattle, but let me be real for a second--the truth is, the best live act in this city might just be Eldridge Gravy and the Court Supreme. They're 100% funk & soul. I originally caught these guys at the Exhibitchin' show here at the Experience Music Project in Seattle, and the theme for the night was the Muppets. And man, let me tell you--on stage, these guys are the living embodiment of Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem. At the time, I hadn't heard of them but they blew me away. And since then, they've also grabbed attention from The Stranger and Seattle Weekly. It can take an act of god to get a crowd dancing in this town, and I haven't been to a Eldridge Gravy show where I haven't seen people shaking their thang.

New music from the AG loved DaM-FunK. The future funk pioneer is set to release his Hood Pass Intact 12-inch. This track off the record features the work of West Coast legend MC Eiht. It marks the first collaboration between the two in nearly a decade. MC Eiht is known for his work as the lead member of the group Comptons Most Wanted, or his acting role in the film Menace 2 Society. What is perhaps not known is he is credited as the originator of the phrase “Gyeah” which is used by every MC and rapper on the planet these days.
Hood Pass Intact also features the work of Steve Arrington along with contributions from devonwho and JT Donaldson and TK. Don't miss this.
We're heading into day 3 of our Capitol Hill Block Party coverage, and hey, let's keep the Seattle hip-hop rolling. Local ladies THEESatisfaction have a very cool space-rap sound, and I'm psyched to finally catch them live on stage. Definitely excited to see Champagne Champagne in action, too, and man, I hear Mad Rad gets pretty rowdy. Check them out!

The latest record from the Heliocentrics is their record with the eccentric Lloyd Miller. Lloyd Miller and The Heliocentrics pairs them with Lloyd Miller, a jazzman and ethnomusicologist with an expansive knowledge of Persian and Eastern instruments. The result is pretty great. I have been a fan of the Heliocentrics for some time. Their collaborative album on Strut uses their separate directions and influences to fuse together a unique jazz experience with elements of world music and experimental psychedelia. Check out a track off the upcoming record.
