LORN : NOTHING ELSE from StrangeLoop on Vimeo.

Whoa. The second artist album from Flying Lotus’ Brainfeeder imprint is the dark sound of Lorn. He is the only Brainfeeder artist to neither come from or ever to have lived in LA.

The video, the music, it all comes together like a hard bassline driven nightmare. I mean that in the most complimentary way. This album just drips with a sinister type feel. "Cherry Moon" the 10th track on the record kind of sums it up. Its like "Imperial March" with a bass line. Amazing stuff. Check it out.

Its early but this track is one of my favorites of the year. Awesome buildup and execution. Great stuff. I should also mention that the record has the adept mastering by Clark of Warp Records.

Buy: The album is out on Brainfeeder on June 8th. Get it here.

Fresh off his over exposure hiatus Kanye is back with a new track. Track is "Power" featuring Dwele. Nice to hear an un-auto-tuned Kanye. Pretty solid track. I assume all the Kanye haters out there (I am looking at fellow AG writer E here) will have something to say about that. I certainly dig it.

"Jesus, man, can you change the station?"

Rayko DJ-producer from Spain and founder of Rare Wiri Records does adds a great twist to some classic Eagles songs. Maybe The Dude would have a different opinion of the Eagles if he had heard these two edits.

Rayko's original "Slowtrack" was featured on one of my favorite record labels, Eskimo Recordings last year. Check that out.

Love this youtube video featuring Jay-Z and Mark James aka DJ Mark the 45 King talking about the making of "Hard Knock Life." Jay-Z seems like a real cool dude in this video as well.

Club 75 Look at this poster. Look at it. Cassius, Xavier de Rosnay of Justice, Aeroplane, A Trak, RESET!...AGHHHHHH.

DJ Mehdi just posted the new Club 75 season of Ibiza nights, and it’s equal parts awesome as it is far away from Seattle. You know, it’s the kind of thing I almost wish I hadn’t seen, because it makes me unbelievably jealous, but it also stirs up some satisfaction in knowing someone out there (maybe one of you AG readers?) will make it to one of these epic nights.
All right, all right—I admit that I sometimes browse Fabric’s weekly club lineup just to gut-punch myself and curse our society’s lack of decent teleportation technology.

Check out DJ Mehdi's Carte Blanche House Party Mix and pretend like you are there rocking the party. Also great remix by Mehdi of "Burial" by Miike Snow.

The Roots - How I Got Over (Directed by BBGUN) from bbgun on Vimeo.

Late pass required on this awesome Roots video. BBGun has a serious knack for making cool looking videos. Not always a fan of the artists he works with but overall his videos have a great feel. This is a great combo of a group I love, great track and a real fresh video.

Shook is disco Dutch producer, Jasper Wijnands. He been making music under different aliases over the years but is currently using the alias Shook. His latest incarnation goes into a more electronic funk direction.

He has been creating a persona similar to what others are doing right now (Kavinsky, Danger and Daft Punk etc.) that create an alternate self and then creates music and art around that. With Shook he tells the story of a young boy who has come in contact with a mysterious Beast. His original tracks and remixes appear to build on this story.

The kid isn't some computer tweaking producer either he has some skill on keys check out this U-Tube video of him in the studio.

Russ Chimes the talented DJ and remixer and part of the fantastic French group Valerie Collective. I feel like I could listen to his remix of Sam Sparrow's "Black and Gold" for ever. No idea how it makes you not want to dance. Huge jam.

So I picked up a copy of The Stranger this weekend on a pilgrimage to Old School Frozen Custard (it's custardy delicious) up here on Capital Hill in Seattle and I happened to catch Charles Mudede's Note by Node column on Renton's own farm-fresh hip-hop producer talent, 10-4 Rog. You should definitely give it a read--Charles does a great job of setting the stage of the current Seattle hip-hop scene and telling 10-4 Rog's story. And, you know, the kid's formidable--I say he backs up the buzz.

10-4 Rog has been releasing tracks over the last week or two--check them out.

This Friday UK's The Heavy will be in Chicago at the Vic Theater, opening for the incredible classic soul of Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings. Although their new record The House That Dirt Built came out late last year, The Heavy are certainly gaining momentum with their track "How You Like Me Now" track featured on the Kia commercial you see every 10 minutes. Certainly a good one.

Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings followed up their awesome 100 Days, 100 Nights record with a I Learned the Hard Way which came out last month. All their records need to be checked out. It is still curious how Amy Winehouse (with the same backing band) gets the commercial success she had while Sharon Jones remains a mainstream unknown. Jones has so much more talent and style.

If I am in Chicago this is a concert I would not want to miss.

Admittedly I haven't heard of Alex Metric till his remix of the Gorillaz "Stylo" hit my mp3 player. His pop centric remixes of Phoenix, Ladyhawke and the aformentioned Gorillaz are fantastic. His recent solo stuff is great as well. His video for "It Starts Here" is catchy and the video carries a great messsage. You have to watch it...like have to.

His favourite sounds and influences are certainly something I am into at the moment - eighties synth-pop, filter disco, big beat and indie. Check out some songs thanks to the mp3 blog Blah, Blah, Blah.

It is kind of funny how you can miss something that is directly in your backyard. Maker Chicago's beatsmith Marco Jacobo has been a DJ and producer since the mid 90’s. I had no idea who he was, let alone that he is right here in Chicago until Stones Throw released its Maker Vs. Now-Again record.

There is another interesting connection here too. Maker has worked with Washington based Emcees JFK and Onry Ozzborn of the Old Dominion crew. He also teams up with Qwel to form Chicago's Galapagos4 another hip hop group label I have been sleeping on. Yikes, I need to start studying.

Anyways, Maker marks his Now-Again Records debut with Maker Vs. Now-Again an entry in the same “music-library” series that saw the release of limited edition albums like Oh No Vs. Now-Again and Koushik Vs. Now-Again. This CD is only available at stonesthrow.com, and comes packaged in a “mini-LP” thick cardboard “tip-on” sleeve. Only 1000 copies of this CD were manufactured. Check out a sample. It is pretty jaw dropping.

So I was over at Annie Mac’s site and noticed that she’s going to be throwing one of her Annie Mac Presents shows at KOKO London on June 5th with a killer line-up, including the Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs. The…who?

Well, I did some Soundcloud digging and came up with some solid stuff. They’ve got a freakbeat sound that proves they aren’t just a brilliantly weird name. Check them Dinosaurs out:
Bournemouth by T-E-E-D
Sickly Child by T-E-E-D

Bonus remix:
Crystal Fighters - Xtatic Truth (Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs Remix) by T-E-E-D

They’re also playing a show on the 14th at Digital in Brighton (my former hangout). If one of you Analog Giant readers hits up either night, drop us a comment!

Williams is the Skye based DJ and producer behind one of my favorite remixes of all time has some pretty great stuff on his Soundcloud. His real name is William Threlfall and he has been making some pretty awesome productions for some time now. Many of which appear on the esteemed Get Physical records. Williams outside of his great remixes was the keyboard player for electro-pop act, Mylo. Looking forward to a full release from this dude some time soon. Check out some remixes.

French beat maker Onra already has a track record for making some serious jams. If you haven't heard of him yet you need to get studying. Chinoiseries and 1.0.8 both received some serious play time here and his new record is awesome. His latest effort is certainly the most hip-hop inspired and his work with T3 and Reggie B are executed perfectly. Do not miss this record.

Ahhh, Stuart Price (aka Jacques Lu Cont, Thin White Duke, Les Rythmes Digitales, 1/3 of the criminally underappreciated Zoot Woman). Everything you touch is glitter and magic. This DJ/Producer wunderkind has had a hand in a lot of my favorite albums over the last 10 years—and so it seems only natural to hear he’s co-producing the new Scissor Sisters album, “Night Work”. Check out his promo remix from the Annie Mac show of "Invisible Light", their new single. The album lands at the end of June.

Robyn wasn’t really on my radar until I heard Royksopp’s "The Girl and the Robot", but something about her voice on that track got stuck in my head. I was hearing it for weeks. I also dug "With Every Heartbeat." So I definitely took notice this last week when she dropped a couple of new tracks from her new album. Anyway, check the new single—"Dancing on my own." A little poppy, sure, but I’m feeling it.

Check out another remix of by the loved Mylo.
