Sorry about no posting for a bit. I have been in Mexico since Saturday. I am back now though. As soon as I sift through my 177 some Analog Giant emails I will get new some music up tomorrow.
Peace!
Junior Boys are the Canadian indie electronic pop duo of Jeremy Greenspan and Matt Didemus (pictured) with two sensational records to their name they have done the latest installment of Body Language (sorry reality television lovers this is no remix of the trampy Heidi Montag).
New single from the Brooklyn based R&B group Escort. Muppets, soul, R&B, the Rapture and remix all in one place is a guarenteed joy for me. Also check out the great job they did on remixing Feist's "I Feel It All." Its out there on the internets for download.
Cousin Cole just got back from doing a DJ set with K-Swift in Baltimore. His latest remix of the Boss was featured on Todd Terje's mix for Resident Advisor last week. There is a version floating around that was cut out of the mix, but Cole took the iniative and sent out the full unmixed version at a decent quality for home listeners.

Like his partner in crime, Pocketknife, Cole makes some of the best remixes. Really puts a fantastic spin on some very recognizable songs. Does a great job of making them his own without totally running roughshod over the track if that makes any sense?
Check out Flagrant Fowl when you get the opportunity.
New track from rockers Jim James (guitar, vox), Two Tone Tommy (bass), Patrick Hallahan (drums), Carl Broemel (guitar) and Bo Koster (keys) of My Morning Jacket. A bit more eceltic soul type edge on this track. The track was produced by Jim James and Joe Chiccarelli (The Shins, White Stripes).
One of my favorites is my dude James Pants. Mr. Pants signed to the wonderful Stones Throw label. The "James Pants' Story" is certainly a great one. According to the website:
The year is 2001 and the place is Texas. Stones Throw head honcho Peanut Butter Wolf is DJing while a sharply dressed young man approaches the DJ Booth with his Prom date in tow to formally introduce himself. Thus begins the story of James Pants.
What began as a dream Prom night to see his hero DJ went to an internship at the label to eventually landing the ultimate fantasy by being signed to the roster and championed as the ‘next big thing’ by none other than Peanut Butter Wolf himself – on top of critics like Busy P, Urb, XLR8R, & Dazed & Confused Magazines.
Chin Chin the latest hip hop group from Def Jux....wait Chin Chin is no hip hop group...in fact they are the first real non-hip hop release on Def Jux. Chin Chin breaks the mold with forthcoming self-titled release. Check out the infectious track of their their record and fall in love.
DJ Mehdi (pictured), Busy P and A-Trak offer up some remixes. The first is of the track "Pump Up the Bass" the second is an A-Trak remix of Sinden's "Beeper." Be sure to check'em out.

New music from Chicago's own 80's flashback rappers The Cool Kids. URB and DJ Benzi put up this brand new Cool Kids cut titled "Oscar." Check it out.

While I give alot of space on here talking about Blue Scholars another great group and duo that can't be overlooked is Common Market. Common Market is RA Scion and Sabzi (Blue Scholars) are set to release Black Patch War EP available May 6th digitally and May 20th in the holdable format.

Not really breaking any cutting edge news with a discussion about Cut//Copy but I have been loving this record the past couple weeks. Some have been saying that Cut Copy is one of many new groups that are New Order wannabees. Maybe so...but I happen to really like New Order and last time I looked they hadn't made a good record since 2001. Hell if you get compared to a great band like New Order its not a knock...is it?
On a personal note I would just like to congratulate my best friend and wife on passing the Illinois bar exam. She worked so unbelievably hard and it is such a great accomplishment. Well done young lady. Love you so much.
Matt Edwards of Radio Slave has a new side project called Quiet Village. Quiet village is Mr. Edwards and Joel Martin get very mellow. Martin is an ex-film editor and music aficionado. The duo is named after a fake-Hawaiian Les Baxter track from the fifties.
I am not sure if the myspace is official but you need to go check out this record. Its awesome. Super laidback and mellow. Just what you need in your life after a long day of work. You can download a couple tracks off the myspace. Take a listen to track off the record:

Old Money brings visions of some white kid getting into Harvard with straight D's in high school or some old dude driving around in a Maybach because his great great great grandfather owned a canning factory in the 1800's. Thats the bad type of old money, pretenious undeserved power and authority.

Friend and Oakland Fader DJ Platurn sent me this great 45 minute mix. I wouldn't recommend blaring at work as a lot of the tracks have that NSFW tag. The set is superbly mixed with clips from Bob Saget, Jack Black, Jay and Silent Bob with music from The Gap Band, The Beatnuts, Amy Winehouse, Black Sheep and others.
Its the Debauchery Mix and it certainly lives up to the title. It might have one of the best all time F-bomb medleys assembled on wax mp3. Check it out with no superiors or kids around.
